About Us

Guale Yamassee Tribal Nation Self-Supported Ministerium:

Our Story dates back over fifty-one thousand years ago. The Washitaw de Dugdamound as well as  The Yamassi/Yamassee are misnomered as “Black” American Autochthonous, original, native, American Indians.

In 1993, the United Nations Center for Human Rights recognized the Washitaw de Dugdahmoundyah Muur Empire as the Oldest Indigenous group on Earth. They are the black, negro, copper-colored Indians. The registered Project #215/93 ensued.

The Yamassee/Yamassi were Moundbuilders and came from the same tribes/clans and families as the Washitaw.

While many history books claim the Yamassee tribe is extinct, Yamassee Indians are considered to still be thriving, living, and progressing.

The federal government knows them as Washitaw, Guale, Yuchi, Chechesee, and Tama. Altamaha, Yamassi, Americario, Pocotaligo, Salkehatchie, Hitchiti or Mikisuki, Oconee, Cusabo, Tomatly, Okeete. Around the time of the Civil War, the South Carolina slave code was in high effect, and many Yamassee were forced into slavery, and their classification was changed from Indian to Negro or Mulatto, and they were coined as the ‘Negro Indians.’ This eventually became the handiwork of Walter A. Plecker.” This one man destroyed our racial origins by creating laws known as the “Racial Integrity Act.”
